Tariff Adjustment For The Renewable Heat Incentive
Tariff Adjustment For The Renewable Heat Incentive

Ofgem, the regulatory body in charge of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments, has announced their revision for the tariff levels for 2012. It is positive news for renewable energy users as tariff levels are set to go up on April 1st.
The RHI tariff levels are adjusted based on the percentage increase or decrease of the retail prices index (RPI) for the previous calendar year. As the Office for National Statistics have reported that the RPI for 2011 was a 4.8% increase, the RHI levels have been increased accordingly. The resulting figure is then rounded to the nearest tenth of a penny, with any twentieth of a penny also rounded upwards.
Heat generated by eligible renewable technologies will be paid the 2011-2012 tariff up until 31st March, and then the new tariff will come into effect automatically on the 1st April 2012.
