It's been announced that applications for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) can be made from as early as November 2011, following approval from the European Commission.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has planned to launch the scheme in October, but this became delayed at the last minute as the European Commission voiced concerns over the tariff for large biomass.
However, the good news is that the State Aid approval has now been granted for the RHI, as the DECC agreed to reduce the tariff from 2.7p per KWh to 1p per KWh. A spokeperson from the DECC stated: "Revised regulations have been re-laid to reflect the required amendment to the tariff for large scale biomass. We hope to open the scheme to applications by the end of November 2011, subject to Parliamentary approval."
