The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) has been delayed, as the European Commission has expressed concerns that the large biomass tariff is too high.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) had scheduled the launch of the scheme for 30th September 2011 - but this has now been put back whilst the regulations are amended and put back through parliament. The good news is that the Commission has granted state aid approval for the RHI, as long as there is a reduction to the large biomass tariff.

Once there is written confirmation from the Commission, we will provide an update on what this means for the large biomass tariff and the timing of the launch.
