Advantages of biomass wood pellet boilers:
- CO2 emissions from wood pellet boilers are much less than oil, log, coal or gas-fired boilers for the same amount of heat
- Wood pellets are a sustainable fuel as they are produced from wood which is growing
- The price of wood pellets is less than other forms of fuel such as heating oil
- The price of wood pellets is much more stable than other forms of fuel such as heating oil or gas
- Wood pellets are available on demand with over 9 million tonnes produced annually in Europe
- Pellet boiler technology is well-established and proven with over a million installations in Europe
- Pellet boilers have high heating efficiencies of up to 96% which is comparable with boilers that burn oil
- Pellet boilers operate in exactly the same way as oil-fired boilers with low levels of maintenance and high levels of controllability, making this technology the closest match to existing oil-fired systems
- Wood pellets are not as bulky and they burn cleaner. They are more convenient than logs or wood chip
- Wood pellets can improve the energy security of the region
- The net carbon dioxide emissions from biomass are much lower than the emissions from fossil fuels if the resource is managed carefully.
